COSMOGONYMAYAN GODS
The most important God of the Mayans was Hun Ab Kun, Hun being one, Ab alone and Ku God. He was above all other Gods. Very few attributes are known of him, because he was considered unknown.
Mayan Gods are the same as angels in Christianity and the Devas in Hindu religion.
Itzamna: God of wisdom, creator of sciences and knowledge. He is a living representation of the father that is secret, of the true being that everyone has in his interior. God, like father, is wisdom and, like mother, is love.
Ak Kin: God of the sun. The Mayans, the Egyptians, the Incas, the Aztecs,etc. Were all worshipers of the sun, taking the sun as a symbol of a cosmic Christ, of that force that makes life. It is this force that we must face by loving ourselves.
Ix U: Goddess of the moon. Like there is a father God there must be a mother God. This Goddess was always associated with the moon, symbol of feminism, of love, of kindness and of non-violence.
Kavil: God of fire. The Mayans who knew the secret anatomy of the human being associated fire with various things: the sacred inner fire, the spiritual strength we must gain in contrast of anger.
Chaac: God of water. The Mayans were not ignorant of the fact that nature is controlled by superior forces. The element of water is found in the Mayans as Chaac and, in the Aztecs, as Tlaloc. They also relate him to the inner waters in a human being.
Xaman Ek: The polar star. Every celestial body has its “pilot” that maintains their orbit, course, etc. in order for harmony and equilibrium in celestial bodies to exist. That is why Mayans considered every star as a living being.
Yum Kaax: God of corn. Nature is not something without life. It is controlled by superior forces, each plant, each animal, each mineral, has its own element, and this element is also controlled by a superior being.
Ixtab: God of suicide. It is obvious that they are not talking about a God for the ones that escape through the fake door, for the cowards. They refer to dying in one´s passion, luxuries, prides, fears, etc. This is the representation of the God that helps a person destroy his inner problems.
Ixhel: Goddess of medicine- She was the Goddess of births and of the moon. She is the perfect symbol of the eternal feminine divinity.
Serpent God: The serpent was the symbol of wisdom that we must gain through interior work, only when we have gained the wisdom we can be swallowed by the eagle of the spirit.
